About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Interdisciplinary and Global Studies (JIGS) is a premier, peer-reviewed international platform dedicated to advancing knowledge at the intersection of local realities and global dynamics. In an increasingly fragmented yet interconnected world, JIGS seeks to bridge the gap between traditional academic silos.

We welcome original research, critical reviews, and policy analyses that employ transdisciplinary methodologies to address:

  • Global Governance & Political Economy: International relations, trade, and social justice.

  • Sustainability & Climate Action: Cross-border environmental challenges and policy responses.

  • Cultural & Identity Studies: Migration, diaspora, and global communication.

  • Science, Technology & Society: The impact of emerging tech on global social structures.

Open Access Policy

JIGS provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There are no subscription fees for readers. We believe in removing barriers to high-quality academic discourse, particularly for researchers in the Global South.

Copyright Notice

Authors contributing to JIGS agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

  2. This license allows others to share and adapt the work, provided the original authorship and initial publication in this journal are properly cited.

Peer Review Process

JIGS employs a strict double-blind peer review system. All submissions undergo an initial internal screening by the Editorial Team, followed by external review by at least two independent experts in the field to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity and impact.

Archiving Policy (LOCKSS & CLOCKSS)

To ensure the long-term preservation of digital scholarly content, JIGS utilizes the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) systems. These archives create a distributed system among participating libraries, allowing those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

Journal History

Founded in 2026, Journal of Interdisciplinary and Global Studies was established by a global cohort of scholars from leading institutions (including Brown University, Harvard University, and HKUST). The journal was created to provide a dedicated space for "Global Studies" that are inherently interdisciplinary, filling a critical gap in contemporary academic publishing.
